Exercise 611 introduces conditional sentences. Students are given scattered clauses. Their task is to recognize the correct conditional and connect the clauses into full sentences. All given conditional sentences are explained below.
Students practise:
Zero Conditional
The usage: Used when describing general truths or habits.
The construction: If + Present Simple, (...) Present Simple.
e.g. If flowers don't get water, they die.
First Conditional
The usage: Used when talking about probable future.
The construction: If + Present Simple, (...) Future Simple.
e.g. If you practice English, you will speak fluently.
Second Conditional
The usage: Used when talking about an impossible situation in the present.
The construction: If + Past Simple, (...) would + infinitive.
e.g. If I had more money, I would buy a car.
