Grammar

Is this dog hers? Does she like her new dress? Why did we use 'hers' in the first question and 'her' in the second? In this exercise, students will practice Object Pronouns, Possessive Adjectives, Possessive Pronouns and Reflexive Pronouns. The theory is included beneath.

Přivlastňovací přídavná jména, zájmena a předmětová zájmena

  1. In English, we use Possessive Adjectives to talk about something that belongs to somebody.
    e.g. This is my book.
  2. Possessive pronouns are used to talk about who something belongs to and replace the noun.
    e.g. This book is mine.
  3. Object pronouns replace nouns in the sentence and appear after a verb or a preposition. In the example below 'Amy'  the noun is exchanged for 'her' -Object Pronoun
e.g. I am talking to Amy. -> I am talking to her.
  4. Reflexive Pronouns are used when the person performing an action is also the person who experiences it.
e.g. I can make sandwiches myself. You don't have to help me!
